In 2021, the United States Mint will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the American Silver Eagle program by issuing a new design on the reverse of the coins to replace the heraldic eagle. The designs is, however, not ready for production yet. As a result, the early 2021-issued American Silver Eagles retain the same iconic design combination in use since 1986. These coins represent one of the last options to purchase the Silver Eagle with these designs.
The obverse of the 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle comes with a bust of Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this image was originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin issued by the US Mint for circulation between 1916 and 1947.
On the reverse side of each 2021 American Silver Eagle in this listing, you will find the iconic heraldic eagle symbol. Modernized for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti, the heraldic eagle shown here has the US heraldic shield on its chest with a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head representing the original colonies.
